Becky Smith - Christian Education Coordinator

Hi, my name is Becky Smith. I am the Christian Education Coordinator for Union-Congregational Church, Waupun. A little about myself, I grew up in a family of 7 with my Dad as a high school science and driver’s education teacher. My Mom was mostly a stay-at-home Mom and ran the household, but then later became an assistant librarian in our local school. I have two older brothers and two younger sisters.  After high school, I attended UW-Stevens Point where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical and Health Education.

Then I went through UW-LaCrosse to get my Master’s degree in Physical Education-Pedagogy. I was hired in the Fall of 1988 to teach middle school physical education and health here in Waupun and have been here since. While in Waupun I met my husband Duane, better known as Buck. He retired from National Rivet and Manufacturing, where he was primarily a shipping and receiving clerk. We have two children, Emily, who is 24 and starting her first year of teaching at Campbellsport, and Erik, who is 22 and is the assistant manager at O’Reilley’s Auto Parts here in Waupun.

I am enjoying my retirement with my new job as a Christian Education Coordinator and, with God’s help, I hope to ingrain in the students the need to keep Jesus with them wherever they go.  I believe with all my heart that solid spiritual health will get them through any crisis they encounter in their lives as they grow in their faith.

Thank you for this opportunity.  Please know that my door is always open for questions, suggestions, or concerns.
