Welcome from Heather, our Christian Education Director
The slogan used by the United Church of Christ seems a perfect framework to contain the vision of the Christian education program at this church: “God is still speaking. No matter who you are, or where you are on life’s journey—you’re welcome here.”
While education at the Union-Congregational Church of Waupun is rooted in biblical and historic faith, we continually strive to respond to, and grow with, the social and cultural changes of the world in which we live. All people are invited to respond and grow with us.
We believe the education of the followers of Jesus Christ to be a lifelong process. It starts at birth and continues throughout our lifetime. Parents receive books about Christian living when their children are baptized and, as the children grow, they are encouraged to attend Sunday school and worship services. Bible and other book studies are a few of the adult-education opportunities offered. Newsletters, bulletins, and the website will contain information as to when, what, and where these learning opportunities will be offered.
From September through May, Sunday school is held every Sunday, except the 1st Sunday of the month, offering classes for children from ages 4 years through 5th grade. A vacation Bible school program is held in the month of August, usually during the 2nd week. Children ages 4 years through 5th grade may attend. During this week, we learn upbeat contemporary songs, play games, do crafts, make and eat food, and participate in mission projects. All children are welcome, churched or unchurched, no matter their racial, ethnic, cultural, or geographical background.
